Los Angeles-based Eels defy convention with their Dream Works debut. Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist E, the band celebrates the offbeat in a fascinating musical landscape that relies on melody, insight, a unique use of sampling and bizarre instrumentation. Having released 2 solo albums in the early '90s, Eels is the first band experience for E, who produced Beautiful Freak with aid from Michael Simpson (Beastie Boys, Beck). 恐らくEelsで一番売れたアルバムですが、最も有名なM1はEの作曲ではありません。 Eのソロの延長といった感じで、オルタナ色が濃いです。 売り方を間違えたアルバムランキングで上位に見つけました、そういえばポストNirvanaとかいう評価を見かけた気がする（どう考えても違う）。 M6はEのお気に入りらしく、ライブでは必ず演奏され、聴くたびにアレンジが大きく変わっています。
