「What’s Going On」や「Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)」を聴いているとまず癒しを感じるんですよね。歌詞はベトナム反戦だったり環境問題だったりと硬派なのですが、英語が堪能でない我々日本人はまずサウンドに耳が行く。でもその音楽面の良さがこの作品を名盤たらしめているのだと思います。

ただ切実な思い。それだけである。それだけなんだ。売れようとか、余分なものがない。当初、ﾒｯｾｰｼﾞ性が強すぎると、ﾓｰﾀｳﾝは発売を拒否しました。それが、後のﾓｰﾀｳﾝとの確執…不幸な最後につながていきます。素晴らしいｱﾙﾊﾞﾑですが、ﾀｲﾄﾙ曲のように考えさせる。どににいくのか？
