ベルゲン・フィルの演奏水準の高さにまず驚く。ノルウェーのオケで、知名度は若干落ちるが、アンサンブルの統一性や各パート演奏技術の上手さなどは、超一流のオケと言っても過言ではない。音は透明でシャープ、集中力のある演奏を繰りひろげている。フランス系のオケ、例えはパリ管やモントリオール響のような軽やかさや色彩感の華やかさは控えめだが、ベルリオーズのオーケストレーションのもつシンフォニックでパワフルな響きを、実に見事に表現しており、目の覚める思いがする。デュトワとモントリオール響のコンビより、このディビスとベルゲン・フィルの方が緊張感と緊密な構成感がよりじゅうぶんに表現されており、印象的なベルリオーズとなっている。ベルリオーズに関心をを抱くファンにはぜひお薦めしたい。
