M･ウォード、約3年ぶりのソロ作品。地味だけど、繰り返し聴いているとどんどんよくなる秀作だ。音楽への愛が伝わってくる。タイトルの”Wasteland（不毛の地）のCompanion（仲間）”とは、音楽のことを言っているそうだ。楽しい時間を過ごしている時も、挫折しそうな状況にいる時も、音楽はインスピレーションになり得るからと。その通りだよな
