1957年9月22日に録音された本作は、ウイントン・ケリー（p）、ダグ・ワトキンス（b）、フィリー・ジョー・ジョーンズ（ds）という当時最高のリズムセクションを従えたソニー・ロリンズのBN録音4作目。

ここでのハイライトは、フィリー・ジョーとのデュオ「The Surrey With The Fringe On Top」での演奏だ。この時期のロリンズは、誰彼なく挑んでは、自らの帝王ぶりを確認するが如く凄い演奏を繰り広げているが、本作もそうした一枚。1956〜57年に関してはロリンズは向かうところ敵なしだった。それにしても、モダンジャズ・ドラミングの典型とまで言いたくなるフィリーのドラミングの素晴らしさだ。
