Japanese pressing of the 2008 album from the German guitar legend featuring one bonus track. Since the early 1970's Uli Jon Roth has been a household name, be it from his work with the Scorpions, his own band Electric Sun, composing symphonies and concertos and sometimes performing with symphony orchestras throughout Europe. Uli Jon Roth has returned to form with his first real rock record since 1985's Beyond the Astral Skies. Under a Dark Sky is the first official release in the long-awaited series of Symphonic Legends, which is a cycle of music written by Uli for his all-encompassing Sky of Avalon project. Fans of the Scorpions and Uli Jon Roth alike, will be in awe of the guitar master once again as he delivers his next masterpiece. Victor.

前作まででファン層の淘汰＆集約が完了した上での、この好評価だと思う。いまだに７０年代から「ｱｽﾄﾗﾙ・ｽｶｲ」までのUliの姿を引きずるﾌｧﾝがいるとすれば、この作品は敬して遠ざけるのが正解かも。

この感動をどう表現すればいいのか・・・。ポータブルプレーヤーなどで移動しながら聴くのではなく、部屋でジックリ音楽と向き合って聴いて欲しい。出来ればヘッドフォンなどで聴くとより一層ウリの世界に入り込めます。一音一音が言葉となって語りかけてきます。⑧で落涙・・・。

この作品は単なる構築美を意識したものではない。ヴァイオリンの弓を引くような甘美に溢れた音色、喜怒哀楽を覗かせる音色は、正しく極限に達し放たれた力強くも儚くもある『芸術』そのものとしての構築美だ。今までのウリの集大成であることは間違いなさそうだ。三部作品全てが完成した時、我々にどのような感動を与えてくれるのだろう…
