ガーナ発、貴重な70'sアフロビートを凝縮。
2007年3月に独立50周年を迎えたガーナで開催された記念式典に合せて制作された、70年代ビンテージ・アフロビート／アフロロック／エレクトリック・ハイライフの復刻版。ガーナでは1957年の独立以来、ありとあらゆるローカル・ミュージックが急激に市場に出回りはじめ、ハイライフを中心にポップ市場が確立。そんな中、クオリティ高いガーナ伝統音楽を大量にリポートし、また自らも録音・演奏をしていたミュージシャンで音楽評論家のジャン・コリンズは1971年にボグール・バンドを結成。このバンドはヨーロッパのポップスとアフリカ原住民の伝統音楽をブレンドしたスタイルで人気を獲得、彼らのサウンドはのちにアフロポップと呼ばれるように。
本作は、そのボクール・スタジオが生み出したスターたちの感動的なサウンドをオリジナル・テープよりリマスターし収録したもの。
