Released on Theresa Records in 1980, Kabsha is widely regarded as one of Idris Muhammad’s finest works as a bandleader. Recorded shortly after his participation in Pharoah Sanders’ Journey to the One, the album showcases Muhammad, often hailed as an “uber drummer”, delivering a stripped‑down, straight‑ahead approach that highlights pure, powerful rhythm and melody. Featuring tenor saxophone giants Pharoah Sanders and George Coleman, the session masterfully blends hard‑swinging bop with deep spiritual resonance.
