「My Shining Hour」（2001）でジャズ・ボーカリストとしてアルバム・デビュー。以降、最近作「Jóia」（2020）まで11枚のアルバム歴を持つ平賀マリカ待望のベストをLPのみでリリース。 東京〜ニューヨークでレコーディングされたゴージャスなアーティストたちとの共演が散りばめられている。 マンハッタン・ジャズ・クインテットとのバート・バカラック・アルバム「Close to Bacharach」、デューク・エリントン・オーケストラ「Sing With The Duke Ellington Orchestra」、ギター・プレイヤーの名手マーク・ホイットフィールドとのナット・キング・コール曲集「Mona Lisa」など作曲家をテーマとするコンセプト・アルバム。アメリカにおけるボサノバ〜ブラジル音楽の変遷をたどるのがアルバム「Batucada」。その中の一曲「Antonio's Song」ではマイケル・フランクスとのデュエットが行われ、間奏にフィル・ウッズのソロが登場するファンには夢のような展開。11曲全てに多様な聴きどころが選び抜かれたラインナップだ。
