近ごろの日本のロックファンのあいだでは“エルヴィス”というと“エルヴィス・コステロ”と間違われかねない。しかし、である。そのロックシンガーとしての実力は世界一といっても過言ではない！あのミック・ジャガーもロバート・プラントもスティーヴ・マリオットもロッド・スチュアートももちろんジョン・レノンも敵わない。ただプレスリーは田舎の純朴な青年、エド・サリヴァンの好意的な紹介どおり人が好かったのだ。時代を喰いものにするのではなくて喰いものにされてしまった。どこかいまひとりの天才的歌手、美空ひばりと共通している。
