『ミーツ・ザ・リズムセクション』に続いて、1960年2月29日に録音された、２代目のマイルス・デイヴィス・オールアメリカン・リズムセクションの３人Wynton Kelly(p)Paul Chambers(b)Jimmy Cobb(ds)に、Conte Candoli(tp)を加えて録音された 『ミーツ・ザ・リズムセクション２』といっていい企画だった。しかし、ペッパー自身のポテンションは低下の時期にあり、前作が持っていたひらめきは消えている。しかし、パーカー以降の凡百のパーカー派アルトに比べて、圧倒的な個性と音そのものの説得力は、ペッパーが、モダンジャズ史上最もスリリングなアルトサックス奏者であることを証明している。

”Meets The Rhythm Section” とよく比較されますが、こちらのペッパーのノリは今イチ悪いと思います。流れるような、またきらめくようなペッパーのアドリブが、ここでは妙につまずき、躊躇したように聞こえます。でもピアノのウィントン・ケリーをはじめとするリズム隊は
