ブルーノートの前作「コンプリート・コミュ...

ブルーノートの前作「コンプリート・コミュニオン」の延長線上にある作品でこちらの方が編成が多く正にシンフォニーの体がある気がする。特にファラオ・サンダースの参加が嬉しい。同じテナーのガトーも十分迫力はあるのだがサンダースの前には引き立て役(もしくは良い対比相手)となっている感がある。攻撃的なサウンドに対してヴィブラフォンの参加も清涼感がありサウンドに奥行きをもたらしている。ここでのモチーフは後々チェリーが良く使うモチーフがいくつかあるので、是非ともこの作品をおさえてから(コンプリートコミュニオンも然り)、チェリーの諸作を聴くのがよいと思う。
