アート・ブレイキーの傑作の呼び声高い、バードランドでのライブ。ジャズはやっぱりライブでんな、というブレイキーおじさんのだみ声が聞こえてきそうなアルバムです。こんなにがしゃびし鳴らすドラムが後ろにいたんじゃ、フロントもさぞやりにくかろう、と思うのは、素人の浅はかさでしょうか。わかりやすい、ハード・バップジャズのお手本ですね。

　もともと１０インチ盤で発売されたものが、１２インチになり、さらにはCDに・・・ 　曲数が少ないのはオリジナル１０インチ盤通り３枚で発売だからでしょうね．RVGシリーズではその分がボーナス・トラックとして入っているはずです． 　いずれにせよハード・バップの代表的アルバムで、非常にアツイ演奏が聴けますので、あとはジャケットデザインの好き嫌いとかでしょうね． 　ちなみにボクは、最初の１２インチ盤のデザインが好きなんだけれど、今国内ではなさそうですね．
