1985年発表の本作は20枚以上あるJoniのオリジナル・アルバムの中ではかなりの異色作と言えるかも知れない。多分彼女のファンの間でも最も好き嫌いの評価が分かれそうなアルバムだ。その理由は彼女の大ファンを自称するThomas Dolbyを共同プロデューサーに迎え大胆にシンセを導入した点で、初めて聴いた頃はあのJoni Mitchellがここまでやるかと驚いたが耳に馴染んでくるとあまり気にならなくなった。残念ながら全米63位と商業的には不本意な結果となったが、私は彼女の絶頂期と評価する「コート＆スパーク」,「夏草の誘い」の2枚と並んで今でもよく聴く作品だ。また彼女のキャリアの割に少ないシングル・ヒットのうちの1枚”Good Friends”が収録され、当時ＭＴＶで流れたＰＶはなかなか素晴らしい出来だったが彼女のファンで本作を未聴の人はぜひ一聴に値するアルバム。
