感謝祭の二日前。広告代理店のエグゼクティブである二ールは、出張先のN.Y.から家族の待つシカゴへと急いでいた。ところがタクシーは太った男に取られ、飛行機は雪で遅れるなどハプニング続き。そして空港に着くと、その太った男・デルに再会してしまう。やっと乗り込んだ飛行機も大雪のためカンザス州ウィチタに着陸。ニールは偶然隣り合わせになったデルと一緒に、そこで一泊する羽目に陥る。それが彼の地獄の大災難の始まりだとは、まだ知る由もなかったが…。
