舞台は現代の香港。深夜になると出没する５人の男女たち。まず、普通の生活に憧れる静かなる殺し屋（レオン・ライ）、その殺し屋のセクシーなパートナー（ミシェル・リー）、殺し屋に恋をする金髪の女（カレン・モク）、他人の店を勝手に開けて商売をする口のきけない青年（金城武）、その青年が初めて恋をした女の子。彼らが同時多発的に動きはじめ、お互いの心が触れあったり離れたり。それぞれの街のドラマを描き出す。
