いかにもブルーノートらしいジャケット、ＬＰを回せなくても、見るだけで頬が緩む。演奏もショーターの個性を満喫でき、控え目ながら筋の通った演奏は好ましい。たとえばジョンコルトレーン、エリックドルフィ、オリバーネルソンのような強い訴えはないが、聴けば「ショーターだ」と分かる音色もメロディーも、簡単には真似られない。要するに本物のモダンジャズ、緊張せず全身で楽しもう。
