#25/27（2002/6/10）UK 5/US 14。Producer ： David Bowie, Tony Visconti。David Torn, Carlos Alomar, Gerry Leonard, Pete Townshend on ”Slow Burn” (g)。新世紀を迎えたものの、2001年9月11日の衝撃的な出来事を避けては通ることはできず、ジャケットを含めてすべてが陰鬱に仕上がっている本作（タイトルも直接的）。しかし”Scary Monsters”以来、二十数年ぶりになるTony Viscontiのプロデューサ復活はたいへん興味深く、輝ける1970年代を思い起こさせる。前作”Hours”のジャケットで暗示されていた「死と復活」は、本作で見事に実現された。

'02年発表｡ﾃﾞｳﾞｨｯﾄﾞ･ﾎﾞｳｲの黄金時代をずっとともにしてきたﾄﾆｰ･ｳﾞｨｽｺﾝﾃｨを､22年ぶりにﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｻｰに迎えたｿﾆｰ移籍第1弾｡曲によってﾋﾟｰﾄ･ﾀｳﾝｾﾞﾝﾄ､ｶﾙﾛｽ･ｱﾛﾏｰなどのｹﾞｽﾄを迎えつつ､あたかも80年代以降の迷走ぶりがなかったかのごとき吹っ切れた表情を見せている｡衝撃には乏しいがﾗｽﾄ2曲における瑞々しくﾎﾟｼﾞﾃｨﾌﾞな表現の説得力がうれしい｡
