いわゆる爆演型の強烈な個性や、奇人変人的なエピソードがなかったため、昔は影が薄かったモントゥーだが、近年見直され、こうした立派なボックスが出されるのは、うれしい限りだ。定評があるコンセルトヘボウとの「英雄」やロンドン響とのブラームス2番はもちろん、ベートーヴェンとブラームスは全て味わい深い名演。ハイドンやモーツァルトの愉悦感も一級品だし、ストラヴィンスキーも、古さを感じず、普通に楽しめる。お勧めです。
