偉大なるファンクの帝王、James Brownの正統派フォロワーとして、多くのファンク・フリークから ヒップホップ・ファン、若い世代のファンク・バンドまで熱烈支持を集める キャリア30年以上のベテラン、Lee Fieldsがニューアルバムを完成！
活動開始は70年代まで遡り、 JB直系のファンキーソウル「Let's Talk It Over」（73年)や79年の同タイトルのアルバムなど、知る人ぞ知る存在であった彼が 90年代末に再発見。
The Soul Providersとの『Gimme The Paw ...And Eleven Other Funky Favourites』（97年）、 98年のソロ『Let's Get a Groove On』（傑作！）を経て、 ディープ・ファンク熱が最高潮になった新世紀に入り、Sharon Jonesのバックを務めるUSの実力派ファンク・バンドDap-Kings とともに吹き込んだ｢Give Me A Chance｣で注目度アップ。02年にはSoul Fireからディープ・ファンクの名盤『Problems』も記憶に新しいはず。
その後も7吋のリリースで知られるTruth ＆Soul Recordsからソウルフルでディープな シングルを次々と発表。今回、遂にそれらの楽曲が収録されたフルアルバムが登場したというわけだ！
『My World』は、まるで現代と思えぬくらいビ荒削りなファンク・ナンバーから、甘茶ソウル・ファンも悶絶のスウィート・ソウル・サウンドのバラードまで収録で、ポスト・ディープ・ファンクというのも なんだかおこがましいくらいに黒すぎる傑作！ブラック・ファン必聴の1枚なのだ。
