54-71 New Album!

Ever since their debut in the 1990's 54-71 have been shining out in the ever-changing indie rock scene.

Their ex-guitarist Noriaki Takada left the band in 2004 and the other members continued as a trio for a while, until a new guitarist joined them in 2007.

And here's their first title as a new quartet: "I'm Not Fine, Thank You. And You?"

The new guitarist Takuya Takada adds more heaviness to the band sound, in response to which Bingo's vocal now spews out more shouts and screams than ever.

And Japan's best rhythm master pair = Leader and Bobo draw out the hardest yet funkiest groove!!

Their raw sound is further enhanced by Steve Albini's production - and maintains the tight, on-the-edge type of tension with no frills throughout the album.

Uncanny bass lines, mathematical tempo and their eclectic sound that encompasses hardcore, funk, jazz and even classical music, are superbly blended to generate truly unique music of 54-71 - but in a more evolved form. 54-71 have gone up a step further to pursue the one and only sound -of their own.
