南部真打UGK強力2枚組！

ダーティ・サウスの真打、UGK（Underground Kingz）が遂に復活！ Pimp CとBun Bの2人組Underground Kingz aka UGKが7作目のニューアルバムを2枚組という超ボリュームでリリース！
Scarface率いるGeto Boysと共に長きにわたり南部シーンを支えてきたUGK。03年、Pimp Cは暴行罪で服役してからも、05年にはムショから「Sweet James Jones Stories」をリリース。Bun Bもソロ活動を活発化させ10月には「Trill」を発表し、高い評価を得ていた。そして同年末にPimp Cが遂に出所（服役中もずっと曲作りをしていたという）、「Pimpalation」をリリースし全米3位を記録したことも記憶に新しい！
昨年夏頃から2人は精力的にレコーディングを続け、UGK復活アルバム「Underground Kingz」を遂に完成！ 大半の曲はPimp Cによるプロデュースだが、DJ Paul & Juicy J（Three 6 Mafia）、Lil Jon、Runners、Jazze Pha、Scarface、Swizz Beatzらがプロデュースとして参加！
気になる収録曲は、既に耳にタコできるまで聴きまくったリード･シングルの"The Game Belongs To Me"とJazze Phaプロデュースの"Stop-N-Go"はもちろん、 T.I.をフィーチャーした"Hit The Block"などを予定。
特にThree 6 Mafiaとの"Players Anthem"はThree 6 Mafiaお得意のWillie Hutchネタで3月下旬のヘビロテは必至。 これ以上ないほど濃縮還元されたダーティ・サウスが詰まった超ボリューム2枚組！南部が見向きもされなかった時代から続けてきた15年間の経験は伊達じゃないぜ！ 心して聴くべし！

UGK 「Too Hard To」（92年）
Big TymeリリースしたEPの後に放ったUGKのメジャーデビュー・アルバム。Geto Boys、Three 6 Mafiaらの影響を受けた重たく暗い空気を持ったトラックが多い。Isleyの大ネタ"Between The Sheets"の"Cramping My Style"、ダークな"Feel Like I'm the One Who's Doin' Dope"などオススメ。
メジャーでのセカンド･アルバム。Pimp Cが中心になってプロデュースしたトラックはどれもブルージーでファンキー。Pleasureの"Thoghts Of Old Flames"ネタのメロウな"It's Supposed to Bubble"、T.I.がカヴァーした"Front, Back and Side to Side"など今聴いても全く色あせぬ名曲揃いの傑作。
ブルージーという言葉がしっくりくる3rd。Ronnie Spencerのフックがソウルフルな"One Day"、ファンキーなビートに心奪われる"Pinky Ring"、スクリュー風味の"Diamonds & Wood"、大人度高めなGファンクチューンな"That's Why I Carry"などアップチューンもBPM遅めの曲もいぶし銀の味わい。タイトル曲で東派も完全KO。
Jay Zとの"Big Pimpin"などのヒットにより一気に有名になったUGKの4th。E-40の"Captain Save A Hoe"使いの"Choppin' Blades"、Devin The Dudeをを迎えたレイドバックな"Ain't That A Bitch"、シンプルなビートの"Holdin' Na"、Eric B&Rakimが使った定番ブレイク"Don't Look Any Further"の"Like A Pimpなどこちらもクラシック。
Pimp Cがムショ入り後にリリースされた、2002年までの
コンピレーションやサントラに提供した楽曲を集めた編集盤。BDPネタのScarfaceとの"The Down With Us"は必聴曲！
同じくPimp Cおつとめ中にリリースされたベスト。旧譜をそろえなくても良いのでUGK初心者はまずはここから入るがよし。
