Magnus Lindgren、Sliding Hammersなどのバンド、さらに人気のLinda Petterson などとの共演で人気上昇のMathias Algotssonの初リーダ−作品『Young and Foolish』が登場する。1971年、ストクホルム生まれ、Magnus Lindgren Quartet, the Swedish Radio jazzgroup、Sliding Hammersなどのバンドで活躍。
Barbara HendricksやLisa Ekdahlの伴奏者としても各地を楽旅。 ２００５年にはマグナス・リンドグレンのバンドで「モントルー・ジャズ・フェスティヴァル」にも出演した。
トランペッターのJohan Setterlindとのデュオアルバム『Where or when』（２００４年リリーズ）を制作。さらに日本でも人気上昇中の歌手、Linda Petterssonのピアニストとしても活動を続けている。
本作の演奏に見られるようにピアノの響きを最大限に引き出し、叙情たっぷりにテーマを展開する演奏スタイルは日本でも更なる人気を呼ぶだろう。
