In 2024, Takashi Murakami—one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists—held his first domestic solo exhibition in eight years, Takashi Murakami: Mononoke Kyoto, at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art.
MNNK Bro. (Takashi Murakami & JP THE WAVY)—a special unit formed after rapper JP THE WAVY was selected to create the theme song for this Kyoto-themed exhibition—has now finally released the theme track “Mononoke Kyoto”, which until now had only been available for listening at the exhibition venue. Murakami himself participated in the music production and recording, resulting in a unique piece distinct from JP THE WAVY’s previous works. The jacket artwork, also created by Murakami, features characters of both Murakami and JP THE WAVY placed atop cherry blossoms inspired by Kyoto.
Additionally, this release includes three original trading cards exclusive to this vinyl—selected at random from a total of 24 designs (12 illustrations, each available in both Japanese and English versions). These cards, originally launched for the exhibition and widely discussed among fans, make this a must-have collector’s item.

In 2025, the long‑awaited collaboration between Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton has been revived after nearly 20 years. To commemorate this historic moment, Murakami and JP THE WAVY—forming the special collaborative unit “MNNK Bro.”—created a new track titled “LV MURAKAMI.”
The vinyl features an exclusive jacket artwork newly illustrated by Takashi Murakami.
The included booklet contains an abundance of special content: design schematics of the car featured in the music video, behind‑the‑scenes photos from the shoot, and commentary revealing the creative process behind the project.
As a bonus, the release includes three randomly inserted trading cards from a total of 33 designs. Among them, there is a very rare set of double‑signed cards—autographed by both JP THE WAVY and Takashi Murakami—each with a unique serial number (only 5 in existence).

The enigmatic song title “Rrose Sélavy, Yet It Is Always Others Who Die – MNNK MADE” originates from the collaborative fashion label created by Takashi Murakami and Yuta Hosokawa, inspired by Marcel Duchamp—widely regarded as the father of contemporary art. (“Rrose Sélavy” was Duchamp’s famous female alter ego, while “It is always others who die” is the epitaph on Duchamp’s tombstone.)

Hosokawa’s renowned brand READYMADE also draws its name directly from Duchamp’s groundbreaking concept of the “readymade,” first embodied by his iconic urinal work titled Fountain, which fundamentally transformed the course of modern art. The vinyl jacket reinterprets this conceptual lineage, featuring new artwork by Murakami that reimagines Duchamp’s masterpieces and connects the history of contemporary art to this unique musical project.
The release includes three randomly inserted trading cards out of 20 total designs, with a very rare chance of finding a double-signed card autographed by both JP THE WAVY and Takashi Murakami, each individually numbered (limited to only 5 cards).

JP THE WAVY—who has long admired Hosokawa’s READYMADE—brings a refined musical sensibility to the project. Hosokawa continues to explore fashion through inspiration drawn from Duchamp’s conceptual readymades.
