ジュールズ（アン・ハサウェイ）は、家庭を持ちながら何百人もの社員を束ね、ファッションサイトを運営する会社の社長。女性なら誰しもが憧れる華やかな世界に身を置く彼女。仕事と家庭を両立させ、まさに女性の理想像を絵に描いたような人生を送っているかに見えたが…彼女には人生最大の試練が待っていた。そんな悩める彼女のアシスタントにやってきたのは、会社の福祉事業として雇用することになった40歳年上の“シニア”インターンのベン。人生経験豊富なベンは、彼女に“最高の助言”をアドバイスする。次第に心を通わせていく２人だが、彼の言葉に救われたジュールズには予期せぬ人生の変化が訪れるのだった。
