中森明菜最高傑作アルバム。このアルバム自体が一つの物語になっており、舞台はNew York。部屋で明菜が、タイプを打つ手を止め珈琲に口をつける所から、最後は打ち終わった手紙を持ち部屋を出ていくまでの、遊び心満載のアルバム。あいまに流れる曲は、手紙の内容を想像させる。各楽曲はall女性によるプロデュース。のちに、竹内マリアが自ら歌い大ヒットした「駅」を収録。女心を歌わせたら右に出るもの無しを証明する1枚。

分厚いシンセの音が20年の時を経ても輝きを帯びて響く。明菜の繊細なボーカルも詞の世界を丁寧に想起させ涙腺が緩む。バラードだろうがアップテンポだろうが同じ調子で歌う歌手が多い中彼女のボーカルスタイルは異色だ。まだ20代前半だった中森明菜はそこに挑戦したわけだが、彼女を上回る表現者がまだいないせいでこのリマスター盤の価値は高い。30代、40代の人にこそ似合う曲がつまったアルバム。

Great album from 1986, all songs written by Mariya Takeuchi and Akiko Kobayashi, both of whom are great singer songwriters in their own right. My favorite tracks on this album have got to be ”Yakusoku”, ”Eki”, and ”Oh No, Oh Yes”. Everything about this album is elegant and sophisticated, Akina’s voice is so beautiful and she makes every song a pleasure to listen to. A must in any Akina’s fan collection.

I love this album!! Wonderfully produced. Every song is carefully chosen. One of Akina’s best! Her style of singing in this album is a little different, very soft, very elegant. The whole mood of the album is excellent! Uniformity from the beginning to the end. You won’t be disappointed! I recently got Akina’s Box. This album is included. This is a must buy for akina fans! Akina is truly gifted. Forver Akina~~~~~

スタッフが全て女性・・・とか。問題の前作から一転、『歌』が染み込んでくるようなアルバムですね。個人的には、『ＤＥＳＴＩＮＡＴＩＯＮ』以前では、一番好きかも。うまく表現できませんが、これまでの『入ってくる』明菜様ではなく、『包み込んでくれる』明菜様、という感じがします。

ジャケ写が綺麗ですね。全体的に地味な作品ですが良い味出してます。駅は後々山下達郎に酷評されてしまいましたが。ミックジャガーに微笑みをは是非竹内まりやにセルフカバーして欲しい一曲。
