かなり以前、エテルナレーベルのＬＰで１０００円盤で出ていたのが４，５，９盤だったかな？その後、ＣＤでＡＲＩＯＳＯから５，７、８，９が出ていた。４番は徳間から出ていたのがあったのでちょうど今回と同じ５曲揃って持つことができた。音の方は年代を考慮すれば文句を云える筋合いのものではない。内容ではやはり８番が良い。今から６０年も前の録音であるのにこの迫力！現在の録音環境であったら恐るべき演奏になっただろう。今の甘ったるいブルックナーに慣れた方々からはどんな評価があがるだろう？８番に次いでは７番が素晴らしい。亡くなる直前の録音で、ハース版なのにアダージョのクライマックスではティンパニのみ入れているように聴こえる。あのシンバルが鳴らない分（たしかブロムシュテットやインバルもそんな演奏じゃなかったかな？まちがってたらすいません）、うるさくなくて良い。しかし、誰かが書いてみえたが、確かに男っぽいブルックナーである。５番も良い。ただ９番はそういった意味ではやや荒っぽく聴こえる。しかし、ブルックナーを世に出そうとした人々の流れを汲む彼の演奏は現代にも充分生きると思う。敬意を表して満点献上！

There are some problems with this collection. The sources are not the best. If you can, you should purchase the Berlin Classics and Music ＆ Arts CDs. The Symphony No. 8 is from the same source as an old Tahra CD which was pitched flat. The Music ＆ Arts CD has the correct pitch. Also, the first movement of the Symphony No. 8 is on the same CD as the Symphony No. 7, but there is no separate track for the beginning of the Symphony No. 8. The last movement of the Symphony No. 7 and the first movement of the Symphony No. 8 are both on one track.
