ま、期待通りの大演奏ですな。タイミング表に明らかなように、実に悠然としたテンポによる堂々たる進行。しかしながら、過剰な重さはありません。このオーケストラとの演奏はどれもそうですが、外への拡がりよりかは、むしろ凝縮した響きを主体としてきちんと整頓された合奏が特徴です。ここでも決して（名物の）爆演にはなっておりません。じっくりと落ち着いた語り口が魅力的です。壮麗さではマルティノンの再録音とかのほうがよほどすごいですぜ。フィルアップのルーセンベリは初めて聴く作曲家にして作品であります。こちらは結構パワフルな豪演でなかなかに楽しめます。録音は、ひょっとするとバランスに問題があるかもしれないですな。フルオーケストラでは量感がやや足りない気もしますし、一部では管や打楽器が抑え気味に聞こえたりもします。

A brief comment on the Saint-Saens ”Organ” Symphony only. Before you buy, do take a look at the timings. This performance takes over 40 minutes. In part, this is doubtless due to the church acoustic. The concert was not performed in a concert hall. That said, the interpretation is largely convincing： much detail is present and flow is not completely lost. It is, however, quite idiosyncratic. For example, the last chord is sustained for much, much longer than usual. I would not want this to be my only recording of the piece, but it does give the listener a new perspective on the music.
