In 1979, Berg’s opera Lulu was finally performed in its 3-act form. A studio recording with the same cast was issued by DGG (now on their Originals label), but this is a live performance of that production. I had forgotten after 23 years how well the singers and orchestra performed such a difficult work. Stratas is marvellous in the title-role, looking like Madonna at times !
