下の方は初期５作品と書いておられるが、厳密に言えば、ハーヴェスト時代のオリジナル・スタジオ作４作品に、パーロフォン時代のシングルを含むコンピレーション物であるEarly Morning Onwardsの中のアルバム未収録シングル３作のＡＢ両面を加え、そこに、ラジオ番組用のライヴや、変名でリリースしたシングルや、アルバム収録曲の別ヴァージョン等を追加し、年代順に並べたもの。そのため、１作目はディスク１とディスク２に分割して収録されており、ディスク３にはアルバムヴァージョンはない。デビュー・シングルであるEarly Morningで既にメロトロンが使用されており、また、名曲モッキング・バードの１９７０年ヴァージョンは、ＫＣの名曲エピタフ風のメロトロンが多用された叙情的なものになっているので、シンフォニック・ロックが好きな人で、ＢＪＨの初期作品のＣＤを持っておられない方には、かなりお勧めできる。但し、歌詞カードはついていない。

Barclay James Harvest ”Taking Some Time On： The Parlophone-Harvest Years (1968-73)” - 5 Disc Set - The most comprehensive collection of songs Barclay James Harvest recorded for EMI, starting with ”Early Morning”, released on Parlophone Records in April 1968, through to ”Rock And Roll Woman”, their last EMI-era single, released by Harvest Records in May 1975. - Originally formed by John Lees (vocals and guitar), Stuart ”Woolly” Wolstenholme (vocals, keyboards and guitar), Les Holroyd (vocals and bass) and Mel Pritchard (drums) in 1967, in Oldham - In June 1969, Barclay James Harvest moved to EMI-imprint label Harvest, with the release of the ”Brother Thrush” 45, joining a roster that boasted Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and the Edgar Broughton Band - BJH recorded four albums for Harvest; ”Their First Album” (1970), ”Once Again” (1971), ”And Other Stories” (1971) and ”Baby James Harvest” (1972). - Across 5 discs, each album is augmented by rare bonus tracks, demos, non-LP singles and b-sides, album outtakes and BBC live sessions, including four previously unreleased tracks recorded for Bob Harris’s radio show in October 1972. Also featured are the two tracks, ”Breathless” and ”When The City Sleeps” that were released as a single under the pseudonymous band name ”Bombadil”. - Featuring many of BJH’s best loved songs, including the single ”Mocking Bird”, the epic ”She Said”, ”I’m Over You”, ”Child Of Man” and ”Medicine Man” - Mastered by Pete Mew at Abbey Road studios, where much of the material was originally recorded.
