Wow, what a strange bit of fun, even for the foreign consumer! Yamayo is basically a ”music video” (note the quotations) translated as Mountain in English. Three singers sing “Yama yo, Yama yo, Yama yo, ikite iru!” or “Mountain, Mountain, Mountain, let’s go to the mountain!” as they dance about in an expressive interpretive dance. The moves and gestures are exaggerated and absurd in a way that is reminiscent of Fat Boy Slim’s Praise You. It feels amateurish yet strangely well thought out by the tr
