I can’t understand such positive reactions to these soulless accounts of the Chopin Nocturnes. Pollini’s fingers get heavier and heavier... He’s not even a shadow of the marvellous pianist he used to be. What a difference from the Pollini of the mid-70s! What a difference from the pianist who once gave us extremely musical and deeply imaginative Preludes, Etudes and Polonaises, back in the 70s!
