Among the many iconic works by Southern All Stars, the timeless classic “ELLIE MY LOVE” stands out as a song beloved across generations. This masterpiece was covered in English by none other than music legend Ray Charles. With 18 Grammy Awards to his name and unforgettable performances such as on “We Are the World”, Ray’s warm and soulful voice brings new depth and charm to this exceptional rendition.

Originally released in 1989 as a Suntory commercial song, the track was produced by Jerry Hey, renowned for his work with Quincy Jones.

Ray’s vocal recording took place at New York’s legendary Record Plant Studio, famously used by John Lennon.

At the time, the song was released only on CD, with a non‑commercial 7-inch vinyl produced exclusively for promotional use. Now, after decades, a long‑awaited official vinyl release has finally been confirmed.

Scheduled for release on June 10, the anniversary of Ray Charles’s passing.
