Yumewokachitorou / My way sarumaru

A 7-inch vinyl single featuring the theme songs from the TV anime Saru, The Pro Golfer, based on the original work by manga artist Fujiko Fujio A, is being reissued for the very first time! Side A includes the opening theme “Yumewokachitorou”, while Side B features the ending theme “My way Sarumaru”. Both tracks were originally released in 1987 and are among the most iconic songs from Saru, The Pro Golfer, performed by none other than the “Emperor” of anime songs, Ichiro Mizuki.

The opening theme “Yumewokachitorou” begins with the legendary line shouted by the protagonist Sarumaru (voiced by Kyoko Tongu): “I’m a monkey! I’m Saru the Pro Golfer!” Ichiro Mizuki delivers a powerful and dynamic performance, making it a truly unforgettable track. A known golf enthusiast, Fujiko Fujio A himself wrote the lyrics, weaving golf terminology throughout to fully capture the spirit and world of the original manga.

In contrast, the ending theme “My way Sarumaru” offers a light hearted and comedic tone. As its title suggests, the song reflects Sarumaru’s pure, slightly mischievous personality as he follows his own path.

Both tracks were composed by Asei Kobayashi and arranged by Hiroshi Tsutsui, a legendary duo in the world of Showa era anime music making this reissue a must have for fans. The jacket art has also been faithfully reproduced from the original release.
