Hottest News of 2008! Much-Anticipated Special Unit is Now Unveiled!

Arctic Monkeys' frontman Alex Turner and Rascals' （or ex.Little Flames） Miles Kane joined together for a special unit Last Shadow Puppets, who have just released their debut album "The Age Of The Understatement" on April 16, first here in Japan! In fact they were already recording last year and have long been rumoured to put out something in 2008. Somehow they did not disclose any information on the project to the last minute i.e. now.

Miles when he was with Little Flames supported Arctic Monkeys on tour, and that's how the two met and got along with each other. They are of the same generation and must have been influenced by similar types of music. Alex has been talking about his love of the 60's pop sound, and it is so evident in this album!
Apparently a lot of orchestrations and strings are used in the album. The advance single "Age Of The Understatement" indeed sounds magnificent and dramatic (and so looks its promotion video filmed in Russia - with tanks and figure skaters etc...) The album was produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, who also worked with Alex on Arctic Monkeys' "Favourite Worst Nightmare".

Both Alex and Miles brought over the tracks that do not seem to belong to neither Arctic Monkeys nor Rascals - a totally different world of sound created by the two awaits you!
