Rolling Stones参加の年の傑作

1981年10月、Quincy Jonesのレーベル「Qwest」から発売のErnie Wattsの豪華絢爛なゲストを迎えたアルバム『Chariots Of Fire』が初CD化発売される。ローリングストーンズと共演したのはティム・リースより先輩のアーニー・ワッツの傑作！御大・クインシー・ジョーンズのプロデュース作品。
お馴染みの映画『炎のランナー』のテーマソングをフィーチャーしたポップ感覚一杯のワッツの代表作の初ＣＤ化。
この年、ワッツはご存知の通りローリングストーンズのツアーに参加。その様子は『Still Life』で聴ける。88年の「Live Under The Sky '88」には、ワッツにとって分岐点ともなったPat Metheny Groupのツアーに参加。
そのツアーそのものが、なんとマイルス・デイヴィス・バンド、サン・ラ・アーケストラとの３バンド帯同コンサートだった。
そうした意味では、まさにワッツにとって音楽的にも名声的にも絶好調の機会を捉えたクインシーの見事なプロデューサー振りが光るアルバム。
