日本人楽曲をジャジーにカヴァー
クラブジャズ・クラシックなどを好カヴァーした1stアルバム『Nu-standards』を今年1月にリリースしたアオキマミ。早くもその第2弾となるアルバム『Nu-standards 2』が登場する。
本作では前回とは打って変わり、日本人、とりわけUAやcharaなどの90年代を代表する名曲、クラブカルチャー以降のJ-POP（≒渋谷系）をセレクトしカヴァー。 その他、笠井紀美子やSonia Rosaなどフリーソウル世代にも馴染みの深い楽曲を入れ込む辺り、前作を聴いたリスナーの期待を裏切らず、なおかつ90年代J-POPカヴァーとの絶妙なコントラストで新たな側面を見せる素晴らしい作りであると言え、またこの選曲そのものが他のカヴァー作品とは一線を画すモノであることを象徴している。
当然アオキマミの歌声も素晴らしいのは言うまでもなく、『Ghibli Of Life』『Couleur Cafe』などの作品で手腕を発揮しているDJ KGOのプロデュースにより、最上級のジャジー＆メロウな仕上がり。
オリジナル楽曲との聴き比べ、1stアルバムとの聴き比べでもさらに味わいの増す1枚となっている。
