Hello. Danny Here. Allow me to take a couple of minutes here and tell how this album came about. After recording my first album, Sinner... Saved By Grace by Danny Fox, (CTW Muzick, available here at CD Baby and in the 'Store' on zioncitylimits.com and on all download services including 'itunes') in 2005, I had the urge to do another- however was interested in doing it a bit different. After seeking guidance from Craig Engel, who engineered and produced Sinner, I felt that if I had outside help to improve not only structure, but sound, I could accomplish what I was looking for. I then sought out an artist by the name of John Houston. John had exactly what I was looking for. Lots of talent in many different areas; recording, musical structure, session playing and the Old School Blues Hammond sound I had been looking for for years. Around that time I found a friend on Facebook from Jr High School that I used to be in a 'Garage Band' with, Bill Giles. Not only were we in the same band but we were great friends too. Throughout the years Bill continued his musical career and later became a full time musician playing the Southern California circuit in the '70s through the early '90s when he decided to settle down a bit. After our friendship took up where we left off I asked if he would be interested in helping with this project and said he would love to. So now I had a place to record and keyboard, bass and two guitar players. Now all I needed was a drummer and away we go. I found a great drummer, Chris Flaig. So Dylan, Chris and I went into John's studio and laid down a couple of songs with the idea of doing another solo project. After a while Chris decided so stand back as he was busy raising a family. I certainly understand this and agreed. So now here we are looking for a drummer again. John knew of a guy that had been in the studio doing session work and told me to give him a call. I wasn't happy thinking that we would have to use a session drummer to get this project done but I called him anyway. Thankfully after meeting with Rich Woodruff over breakfast he was interested in working with us as a part of the project. As the tracks started to come together I realized that all of the artists were putting a lot into this project and felt the need to make this a combined effort that would be shared equally. Earlier in 2009 Dylan and I put together a group of talented musicians for what turned out to be a short time. We called it 'Zion City Limits'. I am bummed that that group did not continue however those musicians seemed to be very busy in other ventures and daily life. Myself included. I decided that because there was a lot of interest by the other artists in this project we would have to go under a Band banner instead of a solo project. Dylan and I decided to bring back the ZCL name. Dylan wrote a song about dealing with the loss of a child before birth titled Window With A View. A tear jerker for sure if you have been close to anyone that has suffered that kind of loss. Because of the impact of that song we decided to make that the title cut of the album. This album was recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered in Southern Utah with the majority of musicians from Southern Utah (except Giles) I personally challenge you to put this project up against any other project done anywhere else. It's that good. We had a lot of fun doing this. From Houston's crying Blues on the Hammond B3 organ combined with the sultry singing duet of Alice Ericksen and myself on Hear My Cry to the fun we had re-creating the old style recording of No Bake Cookies to the cover of John Hiatt's Down Around My Place featuring Dylan's killer lead guitar this album is sure to be a favorite of many. The Bass Guitar flavors of Bill Giles rings through with his un-conventional style of fretboard work topped off with Rich Woodruff's spot-on drum work, all blended with the background work of 'The Girls', calls out to the group effort of Window With A View by Zion City Limits.
