数多くの映画賞を受賞する一方、2003年には紫綬褒章を受章。またミュージシャンとして現在も積極的にライブ活動を行っている。楽曲は宇崎竜童/阿木燿子、藤竜也、寺山修司、桃井かおり、エディ藩ら、男臭さ＆渋さを漂わせる佳曲揃い。
