Digitally remastered edition of the British post-punk bands second album, originally released in 1978. Chairs Missing peaked at #48 in the UK Albums Chart. Although it features some of the minimalist punk rock of the band's debut Pink Flag, it features more developed song structure (taking some cues from 1970s prog-rock, psychedelia, and art rock), keyboard and synthesizer elements brought in by producer Mike Thorne, and a broader palette of emotional and intellectual subject matter. The single Outdoor Miner was a minor hit, peaking at !51 in the UK Singles Chart. Wire's first three albums need no introduction. They are the three classic albums on which Wire's reputation is based. Moreover, they are the recordings that minted the post-punk form. This was adopted by other bands, but Wire were there first. The digipack CDs have identical tracklistings to their vinyl counterparts. These versions should be considered Wire's classic 1970s albums, pure and undiluted.

初期WIREの3枚は何れもPUNK/NEW WAVEの時代を象徴する作品だが、ﾊﾟﾝｸの影響が色濃い1stに比べ、この2ndは大きく独自性を発揮しておりしかも全体的にﾎﾟｯﾌﾟに仕上がっている。

進化しました！でも、楽曲が良くなったというのではなくて（1stも最高！）、イメージを音にする能力が上がったという感じ。ビートルズみたいに。名盤♪マジで。

一番のアルバムだと思います、『154』よりも『Pink Flag』よりも。この陰鬱というかプラスティックな空間が彼等らしさだと思う。かつてのMENSWEARの元ネタ満載というのもこのアルバムの先進性だったように感じます。最高です。
