Worship sets are generally about seven songs and should designed by the worship leader to take the congregation from a place of distraction to a place of focus on God. The whole goal is to focus humanity on God, and when that happens we gain a perspective that we can't have otherwise. It is like seeing things in context because if we see God for who He is, we will see the world correctly, the way He designed it. We won't be caught up in the same kind of everyday stuff because we will gain a God's eye view. That is what worship is about. We want to recognize God for who he is. Music is a great tool for doing this, but not the only tool. The truth is that real worship is outlined in Romans 12:1, 'offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship.' We always have to remember that worship isn't music, it is a life lived in Christ, not even for Christ, but IN Him. We need to reorient our lives on God and realize that He is the center, not us. Galileo, the seventeenth century astronomer discovered that the earth revolved around the sun, and the church excommunicated him for it, lame right, they apologized for that in the 1990's, a little late for Galileo but still. We need to make a similar discovery, that we live in a God centered universe, not a universe that I am the center of. We think that God is here to fix our problems, make us comfortable and give us stuff. This couldn't be more far from the truth. We need to get His agenda, and that is what this music is designed to do. Help us get His agenda. The music is driving rock music made for large or small groups of people to sing together. It is heavily influenced by all the typical stuff that worship is influenced by now, I hate to be unoriginal, but hey, there's nothing new under the sun. So thanks Coldplay, Phil Wickham, The Frey, U2, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Jonny Lang, Arcade Fire, Paul Stephens and everyone else that I listened to growing up! Including the old southern Gospel stuff my parents used to sing! 'I was as poor as a begger.'
