With well known artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Marty Raybon, Rhonda Vincent and many others singing their favorite Ralph Stanley tune, what more would you need. Not since Oh Brother has there been an homage to Dr. Stanley that even comes close to this. Steeped in the traditional style of yesterday but flavored with today's modern country sound, this album is fun, high energy and just flat out smokes... from the first rowdy notes of Ralph Stanley II's Katy Daly to the last soulful notes in Rhonda Vincent's Darkest Hour, the sincerity and respect each artist has for 'the man and his music' is beautifully obvious. The producer's Eric Paul and Nathan Stanley did an excellent job of capturing the subtle nuances that each artist imbues in these songs. A wonderful record from start to finish.
