●現代音楽史を代表する世界的シンセサイザー奏者、作曲家のヴァンゲリス。ギリシャ出身の彼の名前は知らなくても、誰もが一度は彼の作品を耳にしているに違いない。そんな彼の何十年にも亘るキャリアの代表曲を、レーベルを超えて収録することに成功したのが、こちらの『THE COLLECTION』である。

●全米アルバム&シングルチャートの双方でナンバー1に輝いた『炎のランナー』をはじめ、一躍彼の名前を広めた『ブレードランナー』、そして『1492コロンブス』といった映画作品のサウンドトラックの収録曲から、2002年ワールドカップの試合中継で必ず耳にした｢アンセム-2002年FIFA WORLD CUP公式アンセム｣、そして日本でも昔、某報道番組のオープニングにも使われていた「パルスター」等が収録されている。錚々たる代表曲に加え、今作にはさらに未発表曲｢Remembering｣も収録!
