パンキッシュな①で幕を開けるデビューアル...

パンキッシュな①で幕を開けるデビューアルバムであるが、演奏はまだまだ荒削り。曲も出来にバラつきがあるが、後々までライブで演奏される曲があるので、バンドとしても思い入れがあるアルバムなのだと思う。

Joydivisionになりたかった人達が。　　1stと2ndはU2に興味がない人にもおすすめです。　　JoydivisionになりたくてなれなかったU2ですが、なれなかったその後を知ったうえでこの作品を今聴くと大変興味深いと思います。　　あーこれがああなってこうなるのかーと現在の位置から俯瞰的に聞いてもいいし、単純に80年代ニューウェーブの佳作として聞いてもいい。　　とても興味深い作品です。

U2がデビューした時はお気に入りのバンドでしたが「The Unforgettable Fire」を最後にお付き合いをしなくなってました。もちろんレコードで聴いた世代ですが、装丁もきれいだしオマケDiskにも興味があって「Boy」から「Achtung Baby」までのスタジオ6作品を一気に2枚組のDeluxe盤で購入して聴いてみました。 1stからはビッグになった現在の彼らの姿を想像できるものは何もありません。ショービズとは無関係に思えるナイーヴな青年達がひたすら自己表現を模索している姿だけがあります。時に力強く大胆に、時にせつなくなるほど繊細に、作品に取り組んでいます。オマケは所詮オマケ。不要でした。本編には人の気持ちを揺さぶる音楽が生まれる瞬間が刻まれてます。Sリリーホワイト、お見事。バンドのピュアな時間を見事に切り取ったアルバムに仕上げてくれました。
