当初は、クールな知性派として知られたブライアン・イーノ＝ダニエル・ラノアのプロデュースと熱い直線サウンドを売りにしていたＵ２との相性がどうなのか？という議論も出ていた本作への反応。しかし、今聴くとやはりＵ２節に聞こえてくる所（アルバム”POP”も実はそうなのだ！）など、自らの不器用さと外部の血とのバランスに気を配るバンドのセンスが見えてくる（いつも外部に染まりきれない不器用さにさえ愛着を持つファンは多いのでは？）。ここで提示されたアメリカへの想いを巡る旅は次作、次々作と前面展開される。名曲M2収録。
