Turquoise What is Turquoise? Turquoise is Mike Barone. While living in Colorado in the late 80's Mike had an idea to produce jazz recordings of his songs he had written and to write some new ones using Ernie Watts who was living close to him at the time. Ernie and Mike were good friends due to their long association with the Tonight Show Band. The problem was Mike didn't know a thing about synthesizers and this had to be an in house production. After buying all the equipment Mike started to work. It wasn't easy. Living in the country with no help, or internet it took him three months to finish the first song! Then the rest came easier. Eight of these songs were released on TBA Records in 1990 as Makin' Payments and did quite well. These are all new mixes and mastering which brings out the best of these recordings. All songs composed, arranged and produced by Mike Barone featuring Ernie Watts on alto, soprano and tenor saxophones.
