英国４大バンドの１つであるTHE WHO。いかんせん日本ではあまり馴染みのないマニア受けするバンドだと言った方がいいのかもしれない。他の４大バンドのビートルズやストーンズのように、ドカンと売れたアルバムやシングルもないし、キンクスのあの曲のような後世に残るようなギターリフもあまりない。それでも、ピートのあの手をぐるぐる回すライヴパフォーマンスや、キースの体全体を叩きつけるよつなドラミング、ジョンのうねるようなベースライン、ロジャーの心の奥底から絞り出すようなシャウトする声。やはり、このファーストアルバムが歴代Ｎｏ．１だと思う。
