1st がサイケでポップでメロディアスでルーズでダンサブルだとすれば，この 2nd はハードでタイトでダンサブル．I am the resurrection の後半部分の延長上に位置するアルバムである． 1st の方向性を期待し過ぎていたせいか，最初はあまりなじめずよさがわからなかったが，聞き込むにつれて重厚なビートに身を任せる気持ちよさが増してきた． 1st と似たような 2nd が出ていてもそれなりに満足していたとは思うが，それよりも全く違った顔を持つ 2 枚の傑作が残ったことに感謝．

'94年発表｡陶酔的で楽観に満ちたひとつの時代の幕開けを告げる､まさにｴﾎﾟｯｸ･ﾒｲｷﾝｸﾞだったﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰ作から5年8ヵ月｡考えすぎなのか､やりすぎなのか､たんにﾉﾛいだけなのかは知らないが､ﾛｰｾﾞｽはそれだけのものを作った｡例えばﾋﾞｰﾄﾙｽﾞが『ﾐｰﾄ･ｻﾞ･ﾋﾞｰﾄﾙｽﾞ』の次に『ｻｰｼﾞｪﾝﾄ･ﾍﾟﾊﾟｰｽﾞ』を出してしまうような､本来ならば数枚の作品を経て至るべき変化がここにはある｡そういう変化のしかたが理想的だとはとても思えないが､新しい極限に向かって､一切の曖昧さを捨て､ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞが一丸となって突き進むような潔さには感動を覚えずにはいられない｡このｽｸﾗﾑで長い歳月を乗り越えたのだ｡よく頑張ったじゃないか､と｡ ｼﾞｬﾝﾙ上は前作と同じﾒﾛﾃﾞｨｱｽなﾀﾞﾝｽ･ﾛｯｸということになるのかもしれないが､ｻｳﾝﾄﾞの質感としてはむしろ前傾姿勢のｷﾞﾀｰ･ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞというﾆｭｱﾝｽが強い｡当時のふｰちゃかしたﾉﾘ､ｽｶｽｶした空気はどこへやらで､すべてが別次元の熱気の中に突っ込んでしまった感じ｡ぐっと安定したｲｱﾝ･ﾌﾞﾗｳﾝのﾎﾞｰｶﾙを含めてすべてのﾊﾟｰﾄが重く､激しくなって､ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞの発するうねりの大きさが段違いなのだ｡音の密度が高くなって､ﾀﾞﾝｽ･ｸﾞﾙｰｳﾞが濃厚化｡空気からしてﾑﾝﾑﾝと熱とﾃﾝｼｮﾝを孕んでいるかに思える｡ もちろん前作を輝かせていた青臭い､危うげな美しさは望むべくもない｡でも､このわざとらしさのないひたむきな情熱の投入ぶりには引き込まれる｡彼らが90年代にどういう意味を持つのかは知らないが､今なお愛すべきﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞであると思う｡

ジョンのギターフレーズに痺れっぱなし、特に②④⑨⑫は存分に弾きまくり、神懸かってる。全体的な音も骨太になり、前作より断然こっち。
