The Mars Volta quickly follow-up last year's acclaimed 'Frances The Mute' album with another collection of progressive rock, flavoured with heavy punk and latin influences, in the shape of third studio album 'Amputechture'. Recorded in Los Angeles, El Paso, and Melbourne, Australia, the album was produced by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and mixed by Rich Costey and also features Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.

’06年発表｡元ｱｯﾄ･ｻﾞ･ﾄﾞﾗｲｳﾞ･ｲﾝの2人による3rd｡ﾚｯﾄﾞ･ﾎｯﾄ･ﾁﾘ･ﾍﾟｯﾊﾟｰｽﾞのｼﾞｮﾝ･ﾌﾙｼｱﾝﾃがほぼ全面的に参加した本作は､緊張感とｽﾋﾟｰﾄﾞ感に富んだ複雑なｱﾝｻﾝﾌﾞﾙで､ｷﾝｸﾞ･ｸﾘﾑｿﾞﾝのようなﾌﾟﾛｸﾞﾚｯｼﾌﾞ･ﾛｯｸを展開している｡

一般的にはFrances The Muteやゴリアテの混乱の評価が高いのでしょうが、私にとってはAmputechture がベストです。1曲目は冗長でちょっと苦手ですが、そのギャップもあってか、2曲目冒頭から一気に高揚感が高まります。次のゴリアテも悪くないですが、ドラムが交代し、ちょっとバンクに振れ過ぎた感もあり、Amputechture には及びません。
