This truly massive story begins with the introduction of Frodo Baggins, a Hobbit who lives quietly in the Shire unaware of the momentous events that are about to fall upon his shoulders. A visit from his old friendGandalf the wizard sets Frodo and a group of friends off on a quest to deliver a magical ring that has fallen into his possession. For the ring is much more than it seems, it is really the 'One Ring', the most powerful of all rings created by the evil Sauron who was intent on ruling all of Middle Earth. Through the years the ring was lost and now with the forces of evil determined to regain it Frodo must help in the quest to destroy it and put a stop to its evil once and for all. Through their journey they are joined by several brave warriors all opposed to the evil of Sauron and determined to help at any costs. This small party of 9 brave souls become The Fellowship Of The Ring and must face great danger in their quest to see it destroyed.

That Peter Jackson's film is as good as it is, is more than anyone could have hoped for, so often adaptations are done badly and loose the feel of the book, but here we get a truly momentous film. The amazing cast are perfect in their roles, with Ian McKellen outstanding as Gandalf while Elijah Wood brings the central role of Frodo to life, investing the reluctant hero with a sense of dread and courage.
